Steelhead, a variety of rainbow trout, are highly valued in Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Hooking these elusive fish requires patience, dedication, and just a bit of know-how, but the sport of it is reward enough! Unlike many salmonids, steelhead are able to spawn multiple times throughout their lifespan, meaning they can make multiple runs from freshwater to the ocean and back. For this reason, there’s opportunity year-round for the committed angler to catch steelhead in Oregon. Steelhead may put up a bit of a fight, but WVO knows from experience just how and where to hook them.
